Rain forests are subject to many types of natural successions which may further affect population sizes like fire, flooding, storms, winds, in some places, volcanic eruptions. |
Population
The jungle's population can be easily effected. Warm temperatures, lots of sunlight and high amounts of precipitation make living in the jungle very easy because there is such easy access to food and water. This increases populations because it gives them suitable living conditions. However, the jungles population could also be decreased. Illness, disease, and death are very common in the jungle because of all the insects and poisonous plants. This density-dependent factor could cause serious harm to populations killing off many animals at a time. Due to a wide variety of food and water sources there has been lots of immigration to jungles like birds, mamales and

Habitats & Niches
Since jungles have such a diverse collection of plants and animals, and a huge difference in altitude, water and soil, there are many different niches available for the animals to live. A niche is the position or function of an organism in a community of plants and animals. Niches are located in the canopy, under story, the ground and in lakes and rivers. All the different levels of trees provide habitats for the different animals. Each level is supplied with different temperatures, more or less sunlight and also the variation and amount of fruit and vegetation. So depending on what the animal needs to survive, will depend on what kind of habitat it lives in. Visit forest niches for more information.
